How to Replace the Cab Blower Motor on a Case IH 215 Magnum

Is your cab blower motor making excessive noise or showing signs of failure? Replacing it before it quits completely can save you downtime during the busiest times of the season.

In this installation, Melchert Equipment handles the repair using a Greater Ag Parts Cab Blower Motor (Part #87663956).

Parts Needed

  • Greater Ag Parts Cab Blower Motor
  • Part #: 87663956

Tools Required

  • 5/16″ wrench
  • 13mm wrench
  • 15mm wrench
  • 16mm wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver

Estimated Time: 1–2 hours

Step 1: Remove the Right-Hand Armrest

Using the 15mm and 16mm wrenches, remove the right-hand armrest. Once loose, unplug the two wiring harnesses located at the rear of the armrest.

Step 2: Disconnect the Seat

Unplug the wiring harness connected to the seat.

Using a 13mm wrench, remove the four nuts securing the seat assembly to the cab floor.

Note: The seat assembly is heavy. Lift it carefully and place it in the upper right corner of the cab.

Step 3: Remove the Seat Mounting Plate

With the seat out of the way, remove the four nuts securing the base mounting plate using a 13mm wrench.

Carefully lift the mounting plate and unplug the wiring harness connected to the ATC module mounted underneath the plate.

Step 4: Disconnect the Blower Motor

Unplug the two wires connected to the blower motor.

Tip: Take a photo or make note of each wire’s location so they can be connected correctly during reassembly.

Step 5: Remove the Blower Motor

Using a 5/16″ wrench, remove the four screws securing the blower motor mounting bracket.

Remove the blower motor, then use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the mounting plate from the old motor.

Step 6: Inspect and Clean

With the blower motor removed, this is an excellent opportunity to inspect and clean the condenser area. Removing accumulated dust and debris will help improve HVAC performance.

Step 7: Install the New Blower Motor

Transfer the mounting plate to your new Greater Ag Parts Cab Blower Motor (Part #87663956).

Reinstall the blower motor by following the removal steps in reverse order:

  • Secure the blower motor.
  • Reconnect the wiring.
  • Reinstall the mounting plate.
  • Reinstall the seat assembly.
  • Reconnect all electrical harnesses.
  • Reinstall the armrest.

Once everything is back together, test the blower motor to ensure it operates properly before returning the tractor to service.
